The Best Place on Earth by Ayelet Tsabari

Last night, in Toronto, I was introduced to The Best Place on Earth. I saw some people I haven't seen in a very long while and got to meet some wonderful new ones. I also got to hear part of a pretty cool story (although the sexy bits got cut out), hear some great live music, and sample some comforting Irish whiskey (which is my go-to drink when I want to nurse, not chug).

You see, my friend, Ayelet Tsabari, launched her first collection of short stories at No One Writes to the Colonel (how cool a name for a place is that--check out Gabriel García Márquez for details). My other friend, Eufemia Fantetti, MC'd the evening. Both were charming and witty and funny. I met Ayelet and Eufemia through The Writer's Studio in Vancouver and it was great to see and hear them again, even if Ayelet did skip the racy sex scene.

The Miracles of Ordinary Men by Amanda Leduc

Now, if you happen to find yourself near Toronto on May 8, let me suggest checking out the launch of Amanda Leduc's The Miracles of Ordinary Men at Ben McNally books. Amanda was kind enough to listen to me rant about unintended sabotage (see previous post) and is one of those wonderful new people I met last night.
