1st Book Competition

On Tuesday, April 26 at Café Montmartre in Vancouver, Anvil Press will be launching the winners of SFU's 1st Book Competition. Jackie Bateman, who won the fiction category with Nondescript Rambunctious; Myrl Coulter, who won for her non-fiction The House With the Broken Two: A Birthmother Remembers; and Rachel Thompson, who had the top poetry manuscript, Galaxy; will all be on hand to be feted, sign books, and I'm guessing, read a passage or two. The event kicks off at 7:30 p.m. and I'm really looking forward to it. I still remember the day I got to call each of them and tell them they won their categories in the competition -- three of the best phone calls I've ever made.

Nondescript Rambunctious by Jackie Bateman
The House With the Broken Two: A Birthmother Remembers by Myrl Coulter
Galaxy by Rachel Thompson
